While there are certain medical procedures we can use patients for, in order to gain experience and to train different methods, there are many scenarios where it simply wouldn’t be appropriate. This is especially the case in Maverick Medical Education courses where repetition, when administering anesthesia and performing nerve blocks, is key to proficiency. It simply wouldn’t be safe for a patient to undergo. For this reason, our training courses use pulsatile cadavers.
Today, Maverick Medical Education formally announced that they would be awarded patent claims for their signature pulsatile technology by the United States Patent and Technology Office in January of 2022. CRNA’s Dan Nash and David Gaskin began developing the technology in 2015 and initially filed for the patent in 2017.
Not every medical education course has pulsatile cadavers available to practice on, simulating real life experiences when completing a medical procedure. In fact, only Maverick has this exact type of pulsatile technology because it is something unique to our training and is patent-approved. By acquiring high-quality cadavers and running our technology, students will learn exactly what to look for in a patient when performing a procedure, how the body responds to the procedure, and what modification may need to be made.
