This course teaches the basics of ultrasound guided regional anesthesia as well as learning and performing several of the basic nerve blocks. The essentials course consists of online interactive didactic modules followed by a hands-on proficiency lab that offers 14+ hours of probe time. We offer the only nerve block course implementing our patented pulsatile cadaver training, allowing students to physically perform all blocks taught.
Online Didactic Modules
This course is not a typical “death-by-PowerPoint” lecture. The Maverick online content is designed to be modular, bite-sized, and interactive. The modules are filled with interactive presentations, ultrasound videos, pre & post-tests, knowledge checks, and landmark target practice activities. These modules are asynchronous allowing participants to take the course at their own pace and at their own location.
The modules were developed by practicing CRNAs with many years of experience in the field of regional anesthesia, education experts in the field of Pedagogy from Texas A&M University, and instructional design professions
*Students must complete the online didactic modules before attending the hands-on cadaver lab.
Hands-On Cadaver Lab
Over two days, students apply lessons from the online didactic modules to experiential training exercises in a clinical environment, developing confidence and proficiency in administering regional nerve blocks. Students train with life-like pulsatile cadavers to maximize realism when performing blocks and using ultrasound probes.
Students use live human models to develop their skills in identifying landmarks for both peripheral nerve stimulation and ultrasound. They also work with cadavers to practice advanced needling and demonstrate proficiency in all blocks of training.
Gain the Most Confidence in our Life-Like Pulsatile Cadaver Labs
The Essentials complete course includes the online modules and the hands-on cadaver lab. Listed below are the module topics and the blocks performed upon completion of the lab.
If you only want to learn using the online modules and not attend the hands-on cadaver lab, please see below for the “online-only” option of this course.
Online Didactic Module Topics:
