Experience

Desiring to deliver the most efficacious analgesic techniques, I returned to study within the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia Acute Surgical Pain Management Fellowship where I developed skill in delivering ultrasound guided regional anesthesia (January 2022). It is this foundational background that allows me to contribute as a regional anesthesia advocate, provider, and member of the Acute Pain Service where I am currently employed. I look forward to making regional anesthesia available to as many patients as possible both by administering blocks myself and by teaching other providers regional anesthesia skills. It is my hope that these efforts will greatly increase our patient's quality of life, to help other anesthesia professionals function at their highest possible level, and to contribute to the literature and educational efforts guiding advancements in anesthetic practice. Since becoming a CRNA in 2017, I have focused my efforts to facilitate opioid sparing anesthesia techniques. In collaboration with Jennifer Harpe-Bates, another CRNA whom I work with, I was permitted to help develop opioid-sparing orthopedic spine protocols, the outcomes of which have been analyzed and published by our facility’s associated spine surgery group (Leathermen Spine Institute). Together, Jennifer and I have administered over 560 opioid free or opioid sparing anesthetics for the Leathermen spine group and countless others within other surgical service lines.
